J. Williams (singer)

Joshua Elia Williams (born September 3, 1986 in Mangere , Manukau City , New Zealand ) is a New Zealand R&B singer.

Life

Joshua went to school in Auckland. His two sisters took part in Australian Idol - the Australian version of DSDS  . Joshua is a member of a hip-hop dance group that has had little success under the name Prestige .

In 2008 he released his first single, Blow Your Mind, as J. Williams , which reached number 13 on the New Zealand charts . In early 2009 his debut album Young Love was released . This landed at number 5 on the NZ charts. More singles from the album were released (including Stand with You with his sister Lavina Williams together) until he finally reached 1st place in New Zealand with You Got Me in 2010 . In the same year he won the Pacific Music Awards for Best Pacific Male Artist.

On May 31, 2010, the single Takes Me Higher was released , which reached number 2 in New Zealand and made it into the charts in Germany for 3 weeks, where it reached number 75 as the highest position. Williams then recorded several songs with the New Zealand rapper K.One and was able to place himself in the New Zealand charts with all three songs released as single.
