JC 90 Frankfurt (Oder)

The Judo Club 90 Frankfurt / Oder is a German judo club from Frankfurt (Oder) in Brandenburg .

Founded on October 8, 1990, succeeding ASK Vorwärts , Manfred Block was elected as the first association chairman. The JC 90 Frankfurt / Oder was then, after being fifth in the first year of membership in the Bundesliga in 1991, the first club from the new federal states to win the German championship in 1992. Overall, the club won this title under the coaches Rudolf Hendel , Karl-Heinz Werner and Karl-Heinz Lehmann two more times in later club history. In 1993 the JC 90 reached the final of the European Cup, but was defeated there by 2: 5 against Racing Club Paris .

One of the club's athletes who have enjoyed success in the past is Marko Spittka , who was third at the 1996 Olympic Games and vice world champion in 1997 and European light middleweight champion in 1992 . Jens Altendorf , who was third in the U21 European Championship in November 1990 and won the military in 1991, as did the club judoka Jörg Brümmer , who would later also be successful as a sumo wrestler, and Rene Sporleder collected further titles in the first few years of the club's existence -World Championship title secured. Also in the following years numerous titles and medals were won at military world championships, European championships, U21 World Cup and U21 European Championship as well as German championships. In addition to the aforementioned athletes, Dirk Leupold , Uwe Frenz , Holk Silbersack , Tino Buchholz , Mario Rolle , Sven Hesse , Nils Krüger , Rene Jolitz and Ronny Ulbrich should be mentioned here. In 2008 Romy Tarangul won the silver medal at the European Championships and finished ninth at the Olympic Games in Beijing. The 2004 Olympic champion and multiple world champion for the visually impaired Susanne Schützel also competes for the club .

In 1993 and 2003, the association was awarded the Green Belt for its youth work.

The current president is the general manager of the Brandenburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Gundolf Schülke. (Status: 2006)

At the end of 2015 , the club announced its withdrawal from the 1st Bundesliga.
