Jabłonowski is the name of a Polish noble family , the feminine form of the name is Jabłonowska .

history

The family originated when members of the Wichulski family acquired the Jabłonowo Pomorskie estate in the 16th century and took the name Jabłonowski. The family became known in the 17th century through Stanisław Jan Jabłonowski (1634–1702), Grand Hetman of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and important military leader, including in the Polish-Swedish War from 1655 to 1660, in the Battle of Kahlenberg in 1683 and in the Battle near Lwów against the Tatars 1695. When choosing the successor to King John III. Sobieski he was one of the candidates for the throne. In 1698 he was raised to the hereditary prince status by Emperor Leopold I.

The daughter of Stanisław Jan, Anna Jabłonowska (1660–1727), was the mother of the future Polish King Stanislaus I. Leszczyński , father-in-law of the French "Sun King" Louis XIV.

The family owned the Jabłonowski Palace and the Sanguszko Palace in Warsaw.
