Jacek Gutowski

Jacek Gutowski (born July 25, 1960 in Warsaw ; † December 1, 1996 there ) was one of the most successful Polish weightlifters as a participant in European and World Championships .

Career

Jacek Gutowski was a member of the Legia Warsaw sports club . He won many of his international medals in the flyweight class (52 kg).

  • Polish championship title

In the course of his sports career he won the championship title from Poland 7 times; in flyweight (52 kg) in 1981 and 1983 and in bantam weight (56 kg) in 1985 to 1987, 1990 and 1992.

  • International junior titles

As a junior in 1979 he got the bronze medal (220 kg) during the world championships . He received the silver medal in 1979 at the European Championship. He received the gold medal in the 1980 European Championship (237.5 kg).

  • International titles

At the Senior World Championships in 1982 and 1986 , he won gold in the snatch, three times he won the silver medal in duels ( 1981 : 240 kg, 1983 : 250 kg, 1986 : 252.5 kg) and twice the bronze medal ( 1982 : 245 kg, 1987 : 247.5 kg).

During the European Championships he received three silver medals (1981: 240 kg, 1983: 250 kg, 1986: 242.5 kg) and four times the bronze medal (1980: 225 kg, 1982: 245 kg, 1984: 242.5 kg, 1990: 237, 5 kg).

  • Olympic participation

As Olympians he represented Poland at the 1988 Games in Seoul . There he took fifth place (247.5 kg) in his weight class (52 kg).

  • Records

Jacek Gutowski set the world record (115 kg) in snatch (flyweight) at the world championships in 1982 , and he also set Polish records several times.
