Jacek Protasiewicz

Jacek Protasiewicz (born June 5, 1967 in Brzeg ) is a Polish politician of the Civic Platform .

Protasiewicz attended the University of Wroclaw . He worked as a spokesman for the province governor of Wroclaw Province , as Assistant to the Chairman of the Council of the city of Wroclaw , as director of the office for public relations and cooperation with other countries of the city administration Wroclaw and as spokesman for the city of Wroclaw.

Protasiewicz was a member of the state board and chairman of the Wroclaw Regional Association of the Liberal-Democratic Congress , then a board member of the Unia Wolności and its chairman in the Wroclaw region and from 2001 a board member of the Civic Platform and its chairman in Wroclaw. For the Unia Wolności he was a member of the Sejmik of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship for a few years , where he was chairman of the Committee on Tourism, Sports and Recreation and the parliamentary group from 1998 to 2001. From 2001 to 2004 he was a member of the Sejm . In 2004 he became an observer and later a member of the European Parliament . From 2012 to 2014 he was Vice-President of Parliament there, before that he was chairman of the delegation for relations with Belarus .

On February 25, 2014, Protasiewicz is said to have insulted two customs officers at Frankfurt am Main Airport while drunk. On March 1, 2014, he resigned from his post as head of the European election campaign of the Civic Platform and chairman of its MEPs in the European Parliament. On March 8, 2014, he decided not to participate in the European Parliament elections on May 25, 2014.
