Jachen Ulrich Könz

Jachen Ulrich Könz (born March 2, 1819 in Guarda GR , Switzerland ; † March 7, 1901 ibid) was a Swiss lawyer and politician .

Life

Born as the son of a farmer and clerk, Könz studied law in Jena and Zurich . During his studies in Jena in 1841 he became a member of the fraternity in the Fürstenkeller . After his studies, he worked as a lawyer and farmer on his family's estate in Guarda. Politically, he was a federalist liberal. From 1845 to 1849 he was district actuary, from 1853 to 1855 district president of the Obertasna district, from 1876 to 1899 district president of the Inn district and from 1863 to 1898 cantonal judge . From 1849 he was elected to the Grand Council of Graubünden . He was re-elected several times. He was also a member of the Small Council in 1862 and a member of the Council of States from 1872 to 1873 . From 1885 to 1901 he was on the board of directors of Graubünden Bank .
