Reinhold Huber (born January 12, 1904 , † December 23, 1984 ) was an Austrian farmer, politician ( FPÖ ) and member of the Carinthian state parliament.

Life

Huber was the son of a family of mountain farmers from Sirnitz in the Gurktal Alps . After his school education in elementary school and the agricultural school, he ran his father's farm from 1924.

He joined the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) and took part in the July putsch (1934). Because of his participation in this failed National Socialist coup attempt in Austria , Huber was sentenced to 14 years in prison. He later worked as an SA troop leader, local group leader and finally officiated as a regional farmer leader in Carinthia (1938–1945). Huber was awarded the highest war honor for civilians, the Knight's Cross of the War Merit Cross with Swords, on October 1, 1944. He was held in British captivity from 1945 and released in 1947.

In post-war Austria Huber was the first regional party leader of the Freedom Party Carinthia from June 5, 1955 to September 25, 1965. The Carinthian Freedom Party took part in the founding of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), but the state party remained an independent association. Huber worked as a member of the FPÖ in the Carinthian state parliament from 1956 to 1970 and was regional chairman of the FPÖ from 1956 to 1965.

He was the father of 12 children. His daughter Kriemhild Trattnig and his son Alois Huber were also politically active in the FPÖ.
