Jack Frost (Myth)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Portrayal of Jack Frost (19th century) as General of the Union in the American Civil War

Jack Frost is a popular personification of winter , believed to be of Anglo-Saxon and Nordic origin. Synonymous with the sudden return of cold weather, it has been blamed for blizzards and disasters. The American Jack Frost has basically the same powers as the Russian Father Frost . However, their characters are very different: Jack Frost behaves like a child. He likes to play pranks, but they can be very dangerous and sometimes freeze to death . However, he is not aware of this. He is unpredictable, impatient, and irresponsible. He is therefore mostly portrayed as a child, as these character traits fit a child.
