Jack Norworth
Jack Norworth (born January 5, 1879 in Philadelphia , † September 1, 1959 in Laguna Beach , California ) was an American poet , composer and producer.
He was married to Nora Bayes , from whom he divorced in 1913 . Norworth supplied u. a. Texts on the Ziegfeld Follies of 1908 and the Ziegfeld Follies of 1931 . His baseball anthem Take Me Out to the Ball Game from 1908 , which he wrote during a subway ride and which became a hit within a very short time, also became famous. In 1927 a revised version came out, nowadays you can also buy the song as a picture book (e.g. ISBN 0689824335 ).
