John "Jack" Shufflebotham (born April 11, 1885 in Macclesfield , † 1954 in Crewe ) was an English football player who played in the Football League as a middle runner for Notts County , Birmingham FC and Oldham Athletic .

Career

Shufflebotham was born in Macclesfield, Cheshire . He played for Hanley Town and Loughborough Corinthians . In 1903 the Englishman came to Aston Villa , but without being used in the first team. In the following 1904/05 season he made his Football League debut for Notts County . After an interlude at Old Hill , Shufflebotham went to the first division club FC Birmingham . He then joined Oldham Athletic ; For the promoted to the Football League Second Division , the central defender was used seven times. After a few games he went in 1909 to Portsmouth FC , which played in the Southern Football League . In 1911 he was transferred to Southport FC for £ 15 , where he ended his career in October 1914.

Shufflebotham worked as a timber merchant before and after the First World War . He died in Crewe in 1954, a few kilometers from the town where he was born.
