Jack Sullivan (assistant director)
Jack Sullivan (born March 5, 1893 in San Francisco , California , † February 19, 1946 in Los Angeles , California) was an American assistant director who received the Oscar for best assistant director at the 1937 Academy Awards .
Life
Sullivan first worked as an assistant director at The Hunchback of Notre Dame in 1923 and as such helped create 35 films until his death.
In 1937 he was awarded the Oscar for best assistant director for his work in The Treason of Surat Khan (1936). Other well-known films that were made with his collaboration were Robin Hood, King of the Vagabonds (1938), Reversed Luck (1941), The Trace of the Falcon (1941), It's in the Bag! (1945) and One Night in Casablanca (1946).
Throughout his career, he has worked with film directors such as Wallace Worsley , Michael Curtiz , Edmund Goulding , William Keighley , William Dieterle , John Huston , Richard Wallace and Archie Mayo .
