Jackal or MWMIK (pronounced as Emwimmick ) or Mobility Weapon-Mounted Installation Kit is a family of vehicles of the British Army and Royal Air Force. The vehicles are manufactured by Supacat Ltd in Honiton , Devon (UK).

description

The vehicles are designed for rapid intervention, deep penetration into the combat zone and escorting convoys.

The starting point for the development of this vehicle was the Supacat HMT 400. The new vehicle was originally developed for the requirements of the SAS units and was intended to replace the outdated Land Rover WMIK (Weapons Mounted Installation Kit). In 2008 the vehicle was approved for service in the Royal Army and over 500 vehicles were ordered.

The vehicles with the German ATF Dingo or the French Bastion Patsas are comparable in terms of equipment, capabilities and armament . The vehicles can be equipped with a variety of weapons: a 12.7mm machine gun, a 7.62mm machine gun ( GPMG) and a 40mm automatic grenade launcher. The vehicle drives a maximum of 79 km / h off-road and up to 130 km / h on the road.

The vehicles are used, for example, by the Pathfinder Platoon of the 16 Air Assault Brigade and a number of other units, including as part of the ISAF mission in Afghanistan. The armed forces of Australia, Denmark and the USA have each ordered vehicles of the type.

Coyote

The Coyote is a "Tactical Support Vehicle". It is the larger version of the Jackal with a 6 × 6 drive. The British Army ordered 70 vehicles as transporters for medium loads, artillery tractors and other applications.
