John Knight "Jackie" Mudie (born April 10, 1930 in Dundee , † March 2, 1992 in Stoke-on-Trent ) was a Scottish football player and coach.

career

Born in Dundee, Mudie initially played in smaller Scottish clubs. Following the Second World War, he joined Blackpool FC , where he later became a professional player. In 1950 he made his debut for the club in the First Division and became a regular player. In 1953 he won the FA Cup with the team . In 1956 he was called up for the first time in the Scottish national team, for which he took part in the 1958 World Cup. In 1961 he moved to Stoke City and two years later went to Port Vale .

After the end of his career, he looked after several lower-class clubs in England. In 1978 the Cleveland Cobras hired him as a coach for the team playing in the American Soccer League . He also worked in South Africa.
