Jacob Amling (born January 25, 1630 in Würzburg , † January 17, 1698 ibid) was a German physician and court mathematician of the Würzburg prince-bishops.

Life

Jacob Amling studied medicine at the University of Würzburg from 1646, received his doctorate in 1662 and then worked as a physicus in Kitzingen . On March 12, 1669, Amling appeared as “Phil. et Med. Dr. et professor ordin. pract. philomathematicus ”into the academic senate of the University of Würzburg. In 1675 he became dean of his faculty. Jacob Amling was appointed court mathematician to the Würzburg prince-bishops and was most recently a senior at the medical faculty in Würzburg.

In 1685 he received his doctorate from Damian Adolph Dercum .

From 1664 until his death in 1698 he published the historical writing calendar, from 1674 the Bamberg writing calendar as successor to Andreas Goldmayer , from 1667 the allmanac of the Bamberg diocese and from 1673 the Bamberg city and council calendar.
