Jacob Doerksen

Jacob Luke Doerksen (born October 16, 1987 ) is a retired Canadian basketball player .

career

Born in Abbotsford in the Canadian province of British Columbia , the two-meter-tall winger, who was also a talented football player, was a member of the University of Victoria in the Canadian university league CIS from 2005 to 2007 . He sat out in the 2007/07 season. From 2008 to 2011 he also played in the CIS for the team at Trinity Western University. In the 2008/09 season he scored an average of 20.8 points and 10.7 rebounds per encounter and was named CIS Player of the Year. With 1852 points, he was second on Trinity Western University's eternal basketball list when he left college in 2011.

In September 2009 he signed his first professional contract with the German third division UBC Hannover . In 33 games of the 2. Bundesliga ProB Doerksen scored 21.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game for Lower Saxony during the 2011/12 season. The internet service eurobasket.com then named it the best ProB center in the 2011/12 season.

In the summer of 2012 he was signed by SC Rasta Vechta , so he moved to a club in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA . With Vechta, Doerksen won the ProA championship title in spring 2013 and made it to the basketball league . The Canadian contributed to this success in 34 games this season on average 13.7 points per use.

In the 2013/14 season he was part of Vechta's squad in the Bundesliga. He was on the field in 29 games in the top German division and scored an average of 10.4 points per encounter. With the Lower Saxony he had to accept relegation from the Bundesliga. Doerksen turned down the offer to extend the contract in Vechta in the summer of 2014 and withdrew from the professional sector.
