Jacob Edgar Boyers
Jacob Edgar Boyer's (* 1832 in Virginia , † 1911 in Kentucky ) was an American politician of the Republican Party , among others 1863-1865 First Secretary of State of the State of West Virginia was.
Life
Boyers was editor of the Virginia Plaindealer newspaper . He was elected the first Secretary of State of the state of West Virginia in 1863 and held this office until his replacement by Granville D. Hall in 1865. He later served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Superintendent of Tyler County Free Schools for six years . After his death he was buried in Mentor in Grandview Cemetery .
