Jacob Goeree

Jacob Klaas Goeree (born August 7, 1966 ) is a Dutch economist .

Life

Goeree first studied theoretical physics at the University of Utrecht . There he received a BS degree in 1989 and a Ph.D. PhD in physics. He then moved to the University of Amsterdam , where he began studying economics . In 1994 he received a BA degree, in 1997 he became a Ph.D. PhD in economics. From 1996 to 1999 he was an assistant professor and from 2000 to 2001 he was an associate professor at the University of Virginia .

From 2002 to 2004 Goeree returned to the University of Amsterdam, where he taught as a full professor of economics . In 2004 he moved to the California Institute of Technology as a professor , where he also became director of the California Social Science Experimental Laboratory. From 2009 to 2016 he held the chair for organizational economics at the University of Zurich . Since 2015 he has been a professor at the University of Technology, Sydney . He was President of the Economic Science Association from 2013 to 2015 and is currently a former member of the Board of Directors.

In the Handelsblatt Ranking Economics 2011 Top 250 Lifetime Achievement , Goeree took 23rd place.

Research priorities

Goeree is active in the field of experimental economic research. He deals with limited rationality and market design . He also deals with social networks and social learning .
