description

Jacob Golden, who meanwhile lived in London and now lives in Los Angeles , is characterized by his complex, melancholic songwriting and his strong soulful and exceptionally high voice. Musically, his oeuvre is somewhere between melancholic trip-hop and indie - electro and acoustic folk with British classify influences.

As the front man of the less well-known Californian bands Flood , Brother , Orisha and Youth Symphony , he finally managed to arouse the interest of the record companies in 2000 with his last band, Birthday . After just one single with the band, Rough Trade offered him a record deal as a solo artist.

Career

Solo career

Jacob Golden had his first release in 2001 with the mini album Jacob Golden , which was distributed worldwide in a digipack via Rough Trade. The CD is irritatingly labeled "Sex Toys". He published the first full-length album a year later. His 2002 hit single Come On Over is an electronically produced but otherwise typical Britpop song. The media compared him to Jeff Buckley for the album that went with it . Hallelujah World also features Birthday's only hit, Polyamory . All of the recordings for his solo project 2001–2002 were made with electronics hobbyist David Kosten aka Faultline .

In return, Jacob Golden supported David Kosten with the completion of his 2002 album, which this u. a. recorded with musicians from bands like REM , Flaming Lips and Coldplay . Since 2003 he has worked with electronic musicians such as Iain Archer and Nitin Sawhney , among others . Since 2005 Golden has worked with Californian DJ and producer Dusty Brown as Little Foxes .
