Jacob Kabrun Jr.
Jacob Kabrun Jr. (born January 9, 1759 in Danzig ; † October 24, 1814 there ) was a Danzig merchant who became known as a book and art collector and as a philanthropist .
Kabrun was of Scottish descent and the son of a merchant. From September to December 1804 Kabrun was the teacher of Arthur Schopenhauer , who was to learn the trade in the Kabrun family's trading house. Kabrun was friends with von Schopenhauer's father, a businessman who also came from Danzig.
Kabrun had an extensive library and collected valuable paintings. He bequeathed these together with city bonds to the city of Danzig . The collection of paintings is now in the Muzeum Narodowe w Gdańsku .
