Jacob Mayer (builder)
Jacob Mayer the Elder (born May 22, 1610 in Leipzig ; † May 15, 1683 ibid) was a German builder , local politician and church and school director.
He was the son of the mayor Friedrich Mayer from Plaußig . He was married to Catharina Elisabeth Griebe, the granddaughter of the mayor Jacob Griebe and great-granddaughter of Johannes Bugenhagen . Through them, Cranach paintings also came into the family's possession, which Mayer transferred to the city of Leipzig.
Mayer died as a respected Leipzig councilor and head of the Nikolaikirche .
