Jacques Albert Brion
Jacques Albert Brion (born June 8, 1843 in Goxwiller , France , † 1910 in Strasbourg ) was a French architect and an important exponent of Art Nouveau in Alsace .
Brion was born as the son of the painter Gustave Adolphe Brion in the Alsatian wine-growing village of Goxwiller. He studied in Paris from 1865 to 1868 . He then worked in Mulhouse and from 1871 in Strasbourg. There he designed the Anatomical Institute (1874), the Institute for Physiological Chemistry (1883) and the Gynecological Clinic (1886), as well as synagogues, schools and town halls. After merging with Jules Berninger , he also built a number of commercial and private houses. B. in Strasbourg today some can still be seen.

- Office building of the insurance company “Rhin & Moselle” (5, rue Joffre), 1898
- Strasbourg bank office building (24, rue du Vieux-Marché-aux-Vins), 1897
- House (67, avenue des Vosges), 1902
- House (47, avenue des Vosges), 1903
- Tietz department store (5, quai de Paris), 1905
The famous “Maison Rouge” hotel-restaurant on Place Kléber (1898), whose winter garden was decorated with Art Nouveau glass windows, has since been demolished and replaced by a shopping center . Here lived u. a. Konrad Adenauer , Winston Churchill and Ernest Hemingway .
In 1885 he created the building for what was then the Catholic girls' school in Wissembourg (4, quai du 24-Novembre).
