Jacques Taddei (born June 5, 1946 in Nice , † June 24, 2012 in Paris ) was a French organist and pianist .

life and work

Taddei studied philosophy at the Sorbonne in Paris and music at the Conservatoire de Paris , of which he was director from 1987 to 2004. He studied composition with Tony Aubin and organ with Marie-Claire Alain and Pierre Cochereau .

Taddei has been director of the Musée Marmottan Monet since 2007 .

From 1993 until his death he was titular organist at the Cavaillé-Coll organ of the Ste-Clotilde basilica in Paris, 1987-1993 together with Pierre Cogen . Since 2001 he has had a seat in the composition department of the Académie des Beaux-Arts as an elected member . At Radio France he was music director from 2005 to 2006.

International concert activities have taken him to most European countries, but also to Russia, Hong Kong, Korea, Latin America and Japan. In addition to the classical repertoire, he performed organ improvisations and made a number of CD recordings.

Taddei died of a heart attack in his Monet Museum apartment at the age of 66.
