Jacques Zon
Jacob Abraham "Jacques" Zon (born April 21, 1872 in The Hague ; † March 27, 1932 there ) was a Dutch graphic artist, painter and illustrator.
At the age of 13, Zon became a student of the landscape and animal painter Willem Maris .
He then studied painting at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague with Frits Jansen and at the Antwerp Art Academy with Albert De Vriendt. Thanks to a three-year royal scholarship, he attended Fernand Cormon's painting school in Paris .
After returning to The Hague in 1893, Zon worked as a decorative painter and poster artist. From 1902 Zon worked as a freelance artist. He mainly painted landscapes and genre scenes from the everyday life of Dutch farmers.
After the First World War , Zon visited Belgium , France and Italy . Zon spent a particularly long time in Concarneau on the coast of Brittany .
