Jacques de Milly , also de Milli , Iacobus Millius , Iacobus de Milly , († August 17, 1461 ) was a nobleman from Auvergne and from June 15, 1454 until his death in 1461 the 37th Grand Master of the Order of St. John .

He was the Grand Prior of Auvergne when he was elected as Grand Master's successor after the death of his compatriot Jean de Lastic in 1454.

His term of office was under the impression of the threat from the Ottomans under Sultan Mehmed II , who had conquered Constantinople in 1453 . In 1457 and 1459 the Ottomans undertook raids on Rhodes , Kos and Symi , some of which caused considerable damage. He therefore had the order's fortifications in the Aegean continually repaired and strengthened and, in particular, commissioned the construction of Archangelos' castle on Rhodes in 1454 .

At the general convention of 1459 a dispute between the individual country tongues of the order escalated over the distribution of power and offices. In particular, the superiority of the three French tongues ( Franzien , Provence and Auvergne ) was challenged by the remaining knights, especially those of the Spanish tongue. The dispute could only be settled under his successor.

Milly supported the deposed Queen Charlotte of Cyprus in the ultimately unsuccessful battle for Cyprus when he allowed her to collect her fleet in Rhodes in 1461 and helped equip it.

He died in 1461 and was buried in Rhodes . The tombstone of his sarcophagus has been preserved and is now in the Musée de Cluny in Paris .
