Jacqui Katona (* 1966 presumably in Canberra , Australia ) is an Aborigine of the Gundjehmi clan from the Aboriginal tribe of the Mirarr , who was significantly involved in the campaign against the Jabiluka uranium mine in the Northern Territory with Yvonne Margarula .

Jacqui Katona did not grow up in the outback, but lived in Cabramurra , Canberra and Hobart and attended the Australian education system. She has an Aboriginal mother and a Hungarian father. At the age of 32, she was the Executive Officer of the Gundjehmi Aboriginal Association of the Mirarr, the traditional landowners of the area where Kakadu National Park is located and which is in close proximity to the Jabiluka uranium mine and the Ranger uranium mine . In 1998 the Aborigines, together with environmental organizations, carried out a peaceful blockade of the uranium mine. This blockade was one of the largest blockages in Australian history.

Jacqui Katona received the US Goldman Environmental Prize for her political commitment and protest in 1999 , as did Yvonne Margarula.
