Paulinzella Hunting Lodge

The Paulinzella Hunting Lodge is located in Paulinzella in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

location

The hunting lodge , like the village, is located in the Rottenbach valley about five kilometers northwest of the town of Königsee and eleven kilometers south of Stadtilm north of state road 1114 and southwest directly in front of the main building of the Paulinzella monastery ruins .

history

The former hunting lodge was built by the Prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt at the beginning of the 16th century. Stones from the ruins of the monastery were probably used for the construction. The Paulinzella hunting lodge was built between 1620 and 1623, incorporating a previous building from the former monastery. Until the middle of the 19th century it was a popular hunting trip for the Prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt.

The renaissance building was completely renovated by 2004. In 2002 a museum was set up on the upper floor, which provides information on the history of the monastery in six rooms and presents forest and hunting history.

Résumé

The Paulinzella hunting lodge is one of those hunting lodges that went back to secularized monasteries. The building of a chapel made it particularly important, which spoke in favor of the future use of the complex by the rulers.
