Jaime de Portugal (born September 17, 1433 in Lisbon , Portugal , † August 27, 1459 in Florence , Italy ) was cardinal and archbishop of Lisbon .

Life

The nephew of King Alfonso V of Portugal was brought up at the court of the Prince of Bourgogne and was made an Apostolic Protonotary at a young age . Since March 23, 1453 Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Arras , he was also Apostolic Administrator for the Archdiocese of Lisbon on April 30, 1453 . When he reached canonical age, he was appointed Archbishop of Lisbon.

Pope Calixt III. created him on September 17, 1456 cardinal deacon of the titular church of Sant 'Eustachio . Now living in Rome, the Pope made him Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Paphos on June 18, 1457. Pope Pius II appointed him his legate to Emperor Friedrich III. and sent him to the emperor. On the way, in Florence, he died after a short illness and was buried in the church of San Miniato al Monte .
