Jakob Glur
Jakob Glur (born January 19, 1842 in Roggwil BE ; † March 23, 1907 in Bern ) was a Swiss builder .
From the 1890s onwards, Glur realized commercial and residential buildings in Bern. His - regionally untypical - use of exposed masonry as a facade material is to be mentioned as a special feature that emphasizes his buildings. The repertoire of shapes includes bay windows , balconies , complex roofs and elaborate wooden structures, and sgraffitos are used as decoration . Glur's main work is the development of the fruit dump in the Gryphenhübeli district in Bern, after the interest of investors fell due to the rising land prices in nearby Kirchenfeld . The construction company Glurs went bankrupt shortly before his death.
