The Gryphenhübeli is the Bern statistical district 19 in district IV ( Kirchenfeld-Schosshalde ). In addition to the common quarters of Gryphenhübeli / Thunplatz , the statistical district also includes the bear park on the banks of the Aare.
In 2019 there were 1,859 inhabitants in the statistical district, 1,509 Swiss and 350 foreigners.
The name of the Gryphenhübeli quarter goes back to Franz Samuel Gryph, the owner of the Wyttenbacher estate. At times it was also called Egggut or Gut bei Kirchenfeldhübeli.
