Beundenfeld / Baumgarten is a common quarter in District IV ( Kirchenfeld-Schosshalde ) and the statistical district of Beundenfeld . It is located in the south of the BernArena quarter and borders the Galgenfeld , Schönberg-Ost , Schönberg / Bitzius , Spitalacker and Kaserne districts .
In 2019 there were 1,495 residents in the quarter, 1,273 of them Swiss and 222 foreigners.
Beundenfeld used to be a field name on both sides of the Papiermühlenstrasse between Laubeggstrasse and Guisanplatz.
The National Horse Center and some cantonal and federal authorities are located in the quarter . a. the federal intelligence service in the former military facilities of the Beundenfeld cantonal barracks . Today only the parts to the west of Papiermühlenstrasse are in the Beundenfeld district, the eastern parts and in particular the reconstructed Bern military barracks are in the Spitalacker district .
The eponymous Baumgarten settlement between Ostermundigenstrasse and Bolligenstrasse was created in three stages between 1996 and 2012 on the initiative of the civic community of Bern as the owner of the building land. Today around 600 people live in the approx. 240 apartments. In the first two stages, condominiums were built that the owners have to live in. The apartments of the third stage belong to a condominium company.
