Muesmatt is a statistical district (11) and at the same time a smaller common quarter in the district II Länggasse-Felsenau of Bern . In addition to Muesmatt, parts of the common quarters Länggasse (the Hintere Länggasse south of Länggasse), SBB Depot / Welle (the western part) and Von Roll belong to the Statistical Quarter . In the northeast it borders on the Great Bremgartenwald , the southwest border forms the railway line.
In 2019, 4,349 inhabitants lived in the statistical district, of which 3,428 were Swiss and 921 were foreigners. In the smaller common quarter, 1904 inhabitants, of which 1525 are Swiss and 379 are foreigners.
Numerous educational institutions are located in the district, such as the vonRoll university center with facilities from the University of Bern and the University of Education in Bern , the Uniitobler with library, lecture hall and headquarters of some of the university's institutes (e.g. psychology), and the University of Muesmatt as the headquarters of several institutes of the medical faculty (Anatomy, cell biology, physiology, forensic medicine) from the University of Bern. In the south-west is the parking area of the Bern train station with the BLS Aebimatt workshop.
The common quarter is determined by an older residential development in the form of row houses.
