The Vordere Engehalde (also: Vorderi Ängihalde ) is a common quarter in District II (Länggasse-Felsenau). The quarter is on a slope on the west bank of the Aare between the Lorraine bridge and the Aare weir or rock pier. The rear Engehalde adjoins it. To the west, the quarter borders on Engeried , Viererfeld and Äussere Enge .

In 2019, the population is 207, of which 167 are Swiss and 40 are foreigners.

In addition to some industrial and craft businesses, the IT department of PostFinance , a senior citizens' home of the Domicil Group and the Schwyzerstärn scouts home are located there . The water for the Felsenau power plant is dammed up at the Felsenausteg and passed through a 500 meter long tunnel under the narrow peninsula to the turbine house. The Aare loop creates a gradient of 10 to 14 meters. The weir is also equipped with a doping power plant (residual hydroelectric power plant ) that was commissioned in 1998 .

The riverside path on the Aare is used for tourism.
