A common as a communal corridor or communal property is a form of communal property. In the Middle Ages it was also used for raising livestock and growing vegetables. Today it is mainly a green space shared with the Kleine Allmend . It has been used for major events since 1961. One of them was Hyspa (Swiss Exhibition for Health Care and Sport), for which temporary sports facilities were built. Hyspahügel and Hyspaplatz still remember the exhibition today. There are lawn playing fields and open-air exhibition areas used by clubs and athletes. The circus is also a guest on the Grosse Allmend.
It borders the Kleine Allmend , the Galgenfeld industrial zone , the BernArena , Wankdorffeld and Hinterer Schermen . On the western edge is the Autobahn 6 , which separates the small from the large Allmend.
In 2019, no residents were registered in the quarter.
