The Wankdorffeld is a common quarter in the statistical district Breitfeld of the district V Breitenrein-Lorraine . It borders the Kaserne , Breitfeld , Wylergut and Wylerholz quarters . The BernArena , Grosse Allmend and Hinterer Schermen quarters are on the west side of Papiermühlenstrasse . In the north it forms the city boundary between Bern and Ittigen .

In 2019 there were 1,119 inhabitants in the quarter, 828 of them Swiss and 291 foreigners.

The Wankdorf Stadium (formerly Stade de Suisse), completed in 2005, with its Wankdorf Center shopping center and the Wankdorf sports hall are located in the quarter . The Federal Office for Civil Protection FOCP , the Federal Office of Armaments Armasuisse and the Federal Office of Police fedpol have their headquarters at Guisanplatz 1–1c.

There are numerous industrial and commercial enterprises ( CSL Behring , RUAG , Mercedes Bern, AMAG Bern) and the Bern University of Applied Sciences for Technology and Information Technology in the quarter . To the north of the Bern-Wankdorf train station, a new "Wankdorf City" industrial park was created, where the headquarters of the Swiss Federal Railways SBB and the Swiss Post DIE POST are also located.
