Jakob Hassler
Jakob Haßler (also: Hassler or Hasler) ( baptized December 18, 1569 in Nuremberg ; † between April 23, 1621 and September 29, 1622, possibly in Eger ) was a German composer. He was the son of the Nuremberg organist Isaak Haßler and brother of the better known composer Hans Leo Haßler and the organist Caspar Haßler .
Hassler probably received his education like his brother in Venice. He first worked for the Fuggers, then in Hechingen with Eitel Friedrich von Hohenzollern and then at the Prague court. Emperor Rudolf II ennobled him in 1595 together with his brothers Hans Leo and Kaspar. Later he went to Eger. It is believed that Haßler was Daniel Bollius' teacher in Hechingen .
He became known mainly for his compositions for organ and harpsichord.
