Jakob Malsch
Jakob Malsch (born January 19, 1809 in Karlsruhe ; † December 12, 1896 ibid) was Lord Mayor of Karlsruhe.
Malsch completed an apprenticeship as a book printer and founded the Malsch und Vogel printing company in Karlsruhe in 1839. From 1847 he was a member of the citizens' committee. In 1848 he became a member of the Second Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly , of which he was a member until 1853. He was also Lord Mayor of Karlsruhe from July 4, 1848 to June 30, 1870. After his twenty-two-year term in office, he was a city councilor from 1871 to 1881. From 1869 to 1878 he was a member of the first chamber of the Baden state parliament and from 1877 to 1883 he was a member of the board of the Old Catholic Church in Karlsruhe.
During his tenure, water pipes were introduced in Karlsruhe. The Malsch Fountain by Karl Friedrich Moest , Heinrich Lang and Otto Warth was a reminder of this fact until it was demolished in 1963.
