Jakob Ulrich
Jakob Ulrich (born September 13, 1856 in Waltalingen , † September 5, 1906 in Zurich ) was a Swiss Romance philologist .
life and work
The son of a teacher studied Indo-European linguistics and Romance philology at the Universities of Zurich and Paris . He received his doctorate in Zurich in 1879 under Heinrich Schweizer-Sidler on the formal development of the Participium Praeteriti in the Romance languages (Winterthur 1879). Ulrich became a private lecturer in 1880, associate professor in 1884 and full professor in 1901 for Romance philology at the University of Zurich. His successor on the chair was Louis Gauchat .
