Jakob Weitz

Jakob Weitz , also Jacob Weitz (born December 15, 1888 in Neuss , † April 15, 1971 in Düsseldorf ) was a painter from the Lower Rhine region who was best known for his landscapes.

Born in Neuss, he studied with Peter Behrens at the Düsseldorf School of Applied Arts and subsequently in Florence. As a student, he traveled to Belgium, Paris, Italy and Switzerland. After completing his studies, he participated as a member of the Düsseldorf artist association Malkasten in its annual exhibitions as well as in the winter exhibitions of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was also involved in exhibitions in Paris, Rome, Florence, Viareggio, Capri and Monte-Cattini. His pictorial motifs were predominantly southern landscape subjects and motifs from the Lower Rhine. The painter died in Düsseldorf at the age of 82.

In his hometown Neuss, a street and a conference room in the town hall are named after him.
