Volker Jakobitz

Volker Jakobitz (born September 11, 1943 in Brieske-Grube Marga ; † July 13, 2016 in Schwandorf ) was a German businessman.

Life

Jakobitz, son of a miner, attended elementary school in Hausen am Hohen Meißner and in Wackersdorf , and passed his Abitur at Schwandorf grammar school . After his time in military service, he was an apprentice at Siemens ' headquarters , completing this apprenticeship as an industrial businessman. He then studied business administration at the University of Regensburg , graduating with a degree in business administration. In 1972 he became managing director and partner of the textile company Wolfrum in Schwandorf , which he ran with his wife for around forty years. From 1972 onwards he worked on an honorary basis in the regional association of Bavarian retailers, and in 1995 he became its president. In 1974 he was elected to the general assembly of the Regensburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce , and in 1990 as vice-president and chairman of the trade committee. In 1995 he became a member of the Presidium and in 1998 Vice President of the Main Association of German Retailers , he was also a member of the board of directors of the Education Center of Bavarian Retail and the Glass Insurance of Bavarian Retail, as well as the boards of directors of Sparkasse Schwandorf and the Kreditgemeinschaft des Bayerischen Handels. From 1998 until it was dissolved, Jakobitz was a member of the Bavarian Senate for almost two years . In 2001 he resigned from the office of President of the Bavarian Trade Association, since then he has been Honorary President. In 2005 he also resigned the chairmanship of the trade committee. He also sat on the board of the Rid Foundation and was active in associations and the Lions Club .

On July 11, 2016, Jakobitz died after a short illness of complications from a tumor disease.

Awards

Jakobitz was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon for the first time in 1993 , followed by the 1st Class Cross of Merit in 2000. He was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit on July 9, 2009. In addition, he was a holder of the Golden Ring of Honor of the Regensburg Chamber of Commerce.
