Jakub Dvorský (born August 19, 1978) is a developer and designer for computer and video games from Brno ( Czech Republic ). In 2003 he founded the Amanita Design development studio , which received several awards for its games.

Life

At the age of 19 Jakub Dvorský was developing computer games together with some school friends. From 1994 to 1997 Jakub Dvorský worked for the game developer NoSense. There he worked on projects such as Dragon History , Catapult and Asmodeus: Mysterious Country of Ruthaniol . In 1997 the studio dissolved, after which Dvorský began studying at the Academy of Arts in Prague .

In 2003 he founded the development studio Amanita Design , when he made his project for the thesis project completed it at the Academy. For this purpose an online flash game called Samorost was developed . This was the first in a series that Amanita Design continued in the years that followed.

The new team at Amanita Design consisted largely of former employees from NoSense. Dvorský worked with Amanita Design on projects such as Samorost 2 , Machinarium and Samorost 3 , which was published on March 24, 2016, after five years of development. In 2010 the studio also developed an animated film called Kooky , which received a nomination for the Český lev . Most of Amanita Design's published games are point-and-click adventures , including the studio's newest title: Chuchel (2018).

Awards

Dvorský won a number of awards with his Amanita Design development studio. Machinarium won Gasmasutra's 2009 Best Indie Game Award and PC Gamer's Best Soundtrack in a Video Game Award . Botanicula won the European Games Award 2012 in the category “Best European Adventure Game ”.
