Jakub Ekier

Jakub Ekier (* 1961 in Warsaw ) is a Polish poet and translator.

Life

Ekier grew up in a Warsaw family of artists. After completing his German studies at the University of Warsaw in 1986 , Jakub Ekier initially worked as a lecturer. Scholarships and prizes have taken him repeatedly to Austria and Germany. a. He was a scholarship holder of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Robert Bosch Foundation , the Hubert Burda Foundation and in 2003 at the Künstlerhaus Villa Waldberta . Since 1994 he has been working with the magazine for international literature Literatura na Świecie . Ekier has been a freelance writer and translator since 2001 and his poetry has been influenced by Paul Celan and Ryszard Krynicki . In 2013 he was appointed a member of the Saxon Academy of the Arts . Ekier lives and works in Warsaw.
