Jalozai (alternative spellings : Jailozai, Jallozai ) is a town about 30 km southeast of Peshawar in the Nowshera district in the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa .

A refugee camp was set up there in the 1980s because of the Soviet-Afghan war , initially by the UNHCR , then increasingly by various resistance organizations with financial support from Arab countries. It reopened in the late 1990s because of Taliban rule and the drought in Afghanistan.

The UNHCR relocated many refugees to Shamshatoo in 2001 and wanted to close the Jalozai refugee camp on February 12, 2002. In 2005 there were 119,964 Afghans in 24,201 families in Jalozai and at the end of 2007 there were still over 100,000. The final closure will be postponed to spring 2008.
