Jamaica Beach is a city in Galveston County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located on Galveston Island in southeast Texas on the Gulf of Mexico and has a total area of 2.0 km 2 , of which 0.1 km 2 is water.
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 1,075 people lived here in 483 households and 303 families. The population density was 576.5 people per km 2 . The racial the population was composed of 95.07% White, 0.37% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.56% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, and 1.95% other ethnic groups. About 1.67% were mixed race and 8.56% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 483 households, 25.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 52.8% of these were married couples living together. 6.8% were single mothers and 37.1% were non-families. 27.3% of all households were single households and there were people living in 7.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.23 and the average family size was 2.74 people.
20.3% of the population were under 18 years old, 4.9% 18 to 24, 31.9% 25 to 44, 28.4% 45 to 64, and 14.5% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females of all age groups there were 99.8 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 99.8 men.
