The James Nunatak is a 410 m high nunatak in Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises 8.75 km south of Lewis Point on the Wilkins Coast .
The Nunatak was photographed from the air during the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941) in September 1940 and was probably also spotted by a reconnaissance team on the ground. The Nunatak was mapped in 1947 jointly by scientists from the US Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948) and the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS). The FIDS named it after David Pelham James (1919–1986), FIDS geodesist in Hope Bay between 1945 and 1946.
