James Allister Jenkins

James Allister Jenkins (born September 23, 1923 in Toronto , Ontario , †  September 16, 2012 in Lock Haven , Pennsylvania ) was an American mathematician .

Life

Jenkins received his PhD from Harvard University in 1948 . Managers of his dissertation was Lars Ahlfors . Jenkins was initially a professor at the University of Notre Dame , and later at Washington University in St. Louis , where he remained until his retirement.

Jenkins' main area of ​​work was function theory , such as conformal mappings.

In 1962 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in Stockholm .
