James Shaw Boyd (born June 25, 1872 in Kilsyth , † 1961 ) was a Scottish football player .

Career

Boyd played as a striker in his hometown in the 1890s for the Kilsyth Wanderers , who at that time participated several times in the main rounds of the Scottish FA Cup and their league operations first in the Midland League (1895-1897) and later in the Central Combination (1897- 1900) had. In the final of the Stirlingshire Cup against FC Falkirk in March 1896, he was not part of the squad.

After Boyd had already been traded in the summer of 1896 as a possible newcomer to the English second division side Burton Swifts , he moved a year later to the club located in the Staffordshire . Boyd was at the start of the season against Small Heath (final score 1: 3) in the team and was also called up on the following day as a center forward. After the 4-0 defeat against Newton Heath , he was replaced by Tom Leigh and no longer appeared for Burton. Boyd allegedly returned to Scotland later in the season.
