James Cervetto

James Cervetto (* 1747 in London ; † February 5, 1837 there ) was a British cellist and composer .

life and work

James Cervetto was the son and student of Giacomo Cervetto . He studied with Carl Friedrich Abel in London.

He first worked in London. From 1663 to 1670 he went on concert tours in mainland Europe. In 1771 Cervetto became a member of the Queen's Band. After the death of his father, he gave up practicing music. He wrote duets for two violoncellos (Opus 2, 5 and 6) and sonatinas for violoncello and bass (Opus 4).
