James Clackson

James Clackson is an English linguist and Indo-Europeanist .

Since 2016 he has succeeded Geoffrey Horrocks Professor of Comparative Philology at the University of Cambridge . He is also a Fellow of Jesus College , Cambridge and Director of Studies in Classics ( classical studies ) up there as well as editor of the Transactions of the Philological Society .
