James Cumming (chemist)

James Cumming.

James Cumming (born October 24, 1777 in England , † November 10, 1861 in North Runcton near King's Lynn , Norfolk ) was an English chemist, clergyman and university professor.

He was principal at North Runcton for 43 years and professor of chemistry at Trinity College , Cambridge from 1815 to 1860 .

In April and May 1821 he described his galvanometric experiments at the Cambridge Philosophical Society. Since 1816 he was a Fellow of the Royal Society in London.
