James Tabor

James D. Tabor (born March 2, 1946 ) is an American biblical scholar .

Career

Tabor is of German origin.

After various teaching positions at other universities in the United States, he has been teaching at the Faculty of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte since 1989 . He received his doctorate in 1982 from the University of Chicago in the subject “New Testament and Early Christian Literature”. Since then, his studies have focused on the historical Jesus and ancient Judaism. In this field, he is also the author of various, sometimes highly controversial works such as The Jesus Dynasty .
